• Storage is important …. Oh really
    Dietician | 08-Jun-2018
As a dietician, I would never recommend a person to follow a very low calorie diet pattern . But after my internship under Dr Shah,I can surely say there is no harm in using very low calorie diet patterns. Very low calorie diet pattern is basically consuming much less calorie compared to what you burn. The important part here is using your storage. When we have sufficient storage let us use it rather than waiting for some crisis to happen.            Human bodies are really smart, but at times they start acting over smart. This is the time where experts come in the picture.  The logic is simple if a dam get filled up we have to open the windows and let the water flow, else it will break the walls of the dam. This makes the situation of crisis instead of saving from crisis. Similar is the case with obese people.  Obesity may or may not be a disease by itself but it surely brings along various diseases i.e. comorbidities. As mentioned earlier human body is smart it s

  • THINGS TO DO AFTER DECLARATION OF RESULTS
    Madhura Bilimogga | 05-Jun-2018
It is that time of the year when young students of 10th and 12th will get to know their results. It is that time of the year when, even people, who rarely talk to you will be curious to know  about your results. I know how it feels. But don’t let anyone’s reactions affect you. I was scared when I was eagerly waiting for my 10th std results. I wasn’t really happy.I scored 78.67% in 10th std. I wasn’t happy. Because at the back of my mind, I knew that I hadn’t given my best. But then again I also knew that there is no point in regretting now. Before the results were declared, I decided to do follow some things to take the right decision for myself.  As you still have time for admission process to begin ,make sure you read and implement this. Here’s what I did:1. Take a deep breath. Be calm. The scores are surely important for getting into good colleges but not at the cost of harming your self-esteem. It is okay if you haven’t scored the kind of marks you had ex

Social media has taken over the minds. People want a happy social life - whether in reality you're happy or not.  Regularly uploading photograhs and waiting for ages for somebody else's approval. Happy were those of previous generations. Those people whose happiness didn't depend on the appraisal of others.  Capturing every minute of life and forgetting to enjoy it , to live it...is it so important to have that virtual life or get back to a real beautiful life is the question...

Don't you miss yourself sometimes? The old person that used to enjoy, be happy cheerful , full of life? That person got lost , lost in this race.  Discipline has had a huge impact on everyone's life. Not that I don't like discipline but there should be some freedom with it. Everyone is being treated like a machine. No emotions only rat race...... I search for myself sometimes but so many times I get so busy that I forget myself completely:  The old me the lost me......

  • Siblings- Learning the Art of Trade
    Rucha Bindu | 24-Apr-2018
What is it like to have a younger sibling? I feel younger siblings were created to take you seriously when you're joking and to joke when you're serious. They were created to irritate every nerve in your body, and to bring you water in bed while you trade something for the future (which you never intend to give.) They were created to lose your favorite little things, and to make you sign that remark in their diary in place of your parents, which they obviously wouldn't approve of. But also to keep your secrets which your parents wouldn't approve of (and you, being the elder one, try to act cool like they already know so that your sibling wouldn't use that as a trade.) My younger sister asks me to decide what I'll be gifting her for her birthday exactly six months prior to it- by the way, my birthday falls in that six months period but who cares, right? But, I don't need to ask. It's already there, the gift that I've always wanted, near my birthday cake, and a shabbily done last minute birthday card with a d

  • Justice
    Manali Jobanputra | 15-Apr-2018
In our country, Justice is too much to ask for. Murderers get bail, Corrupt officials rule this nation, Rapists are protected by the government, roaming scot-free on our streets, and Common man lives imprisoned in FEAR each day. The life of a common man is worth NOTHING AT ALL! I am disgusted by the recent news updates : Asifa Gangrape and Murder case Unnao Rape Case Nisha Rape and Murder Case And so many more that don’t reach the news, or even the police station. These horrendous crimes seem to be just getting worst and happening even more frequently.   THE LAW, THE GOVERNMENT, THE POLICE, everyone has failed our country. They can’t protect our women, They can’t even serve justice, all they can do is fill their bloody pockets with money and screw our country. Seems like we the people of the country must protect ourselves. No one needs to fear the law, because clearly there is NO BLOODY DAMN LAW, because if there was, then these monstrous demons would be dead by now.

Minutes to months to years all pass and we are left with routine. We have tied ourselves to the same system that has been going on for years. No time for emotions, expression or enjoyment. First comes school then high school then graduation. As soon as graduation is over placement and job. A 9 - 6:30 routine and deadlines . Life is loaded with frustration. Nobody finds the time to realize what they really like. No time to think. Just do what everyone does. Same struggle for everyone rich or poor. Those who choose to lay back and relax are pressurized by their peers to get into competition this is a never ending cycle that goes on generation to generation.  We have become like robots , we want to achieve everything within a given time limit , no place for parents or other emotions. Where's life? It's left out somewhere between routine and the genius human brain...

  • Welcome to India
    Manali Jobanputra | 25-Mar-2018
I am equally appalled as much as I am surprised by the absolutely unaware global population and the unrealistic image they hold of India. So here, let me debunk a few for you! My fellow Indians, add up in the comments if I miss something out    First things first (because I am absolutely sick and tired of hearing this) – Wow, how do you speak English so well? Well, because English is the OFFICIAL language, along with Hindi. Almost about everyone in India speaks English and its NO BIG DEAL. For a lot of us, the Medium of instruction, throughout our education was English. So stop with the gawking, and eyes popping when you hear us fluently converse in English.    ***   Next ! ( This level of unawareness makes me wonder how developed are the GENIUS MINDS asking this) – Do you have ELECTRICITY?  Are you kidding me? Like come on GENIUS! YES, we obviously do have electricity, laptops, TV’s, Cellphones and all of that. Yes, we do watch Daily soaps and

  • The Priceless Crystal
    Manali Jobanputra | 12-Mar-2018
It’s the thought that counts!! Well, it holds true in every aspect. So today was a usual day at school, Coffee.. Class.. Kids.. Sums up my day in entirety. The last hour of school, I’d a class with my naughty yet adorable second graders. Today’s a cloudy day in Tehuacán, and hence I wasn’t in my best of spirits. ( Cloudy dull weather bums me out) One of my second graders; Valentina came up to me, wrapped her small soft arms around me and said in the sweetest voice ” What happened teacher Manali? ” I bent down to her and said “I just feel upset, I don’t like the gloomy weather ! “, she looked at me for a few moments, probably trying to understand what I had just told her. She smiled at me, and said sit. I was wondering what was going on. As I sat, she removed a little green crystal, the magical green crystal that she carried everyday everywhere with her. She believed the crystal was magical and it could make everyone happy. S

  • Our Bigoted Society
    Manali Jobanputra | 07-Mar-2018
I live in a world that is governed by the laws of rights and wrongs. Every action is categorized in either of the category, and is binding to each and every individual. From the moment we enter this world, it begins, the teachings of right and wrongs. Our minds are wired to think the way the society wants us to think. Its no different than a herd of goats following one behind the other, blindly. We too, ignorantly,  keep believing and practicing these baseless laws.   There is no freedom to choose what you as an individual perceive to be right or wrong. I wonder sometimes where it all came from, who actually got to decide whether something is right or wrong. Why does someone else get to decide for me? So many of us fear to make choices, because we’re blinded by the society’s bifurcation of deeds.   The freedom to finding my love is trapped by society’s norms. It doesn’t matter if I love him unconditionally, it’s wrong in the self-proclaimed Jury’s (the so

    Dietician | 02-Mar-2018
Holi is one of the festivals significantly related to human nature . The night of holi we have holikadahan which is nothing but getting rid of the evils overpowering our sense .The next day i. e dhulivandan or 5 days later rang panchmi we get colour, in short give a fresh start , a new beginning . An empty page is always blank , the time we start filling colours is when we start decorating it and whenever it goes wrong we simply tear the page . Life also goes with a similar motto. Colours are one of those things in life which, completely overpower us and we never complain. Just a simple change in colour , completely  changes our thought .  They are the best healers for any and every pain. Each colour plays a specific role in our life.  May be that is why  even celebrate with colours. We are so dependent on colours . Although now a days we like to click monochrome , black and white pictures but ,that is after we have umpteen number of colourful images. From environment to te

  • Fathoming Us
    Manali Jobanputra | 18-Feb-2018
I am torn between my mind and my heart! Everyday there is the same conflict and it drives my cortisol up, my spirits low and mind numb. I wake up in satisfaction of having freed myself of the pain and agony, and cry myself to sleep in the regret to cutting him out of my life.   I fail to be able to make peace with my decision. My day runs normally, until the moment I come across something that relates to him, and I am thrown into a tornado of memories and questions. I feel the tornado causing destruction inside me as I sink into the realm of regrets.   I regret that I cut him off, and I am reminded of the blissful moments we shared, as tears roll down my eyes. The regret weakens my decision to keep away, and I almost take my phone to call him, when I am reminded of the wrongs he has done to me.   I am enraged at myself for letting myself break for a man who has wronged me in so many ways. My mind starts weighing the rights and the wrongs, and somehow it can never decide which ones heavier

Telepathic communication sounds pretty outdated right. But I have experienced and I'm sure many of us must've experienced this. Repeated thoughts about a person , a place. Yes they're trying to communicate something to us.  There are some bonds our soul shares with the people that are present in our life, were present and will be present.  Just thinking about a certain friend and receiving a call from them. Missing someone and suddenly being invited by them. All these and a lot more deja Vu shows us some kind of a mystic power our brain possesses a sixth sense maybe. Thoughts travel faster than wind so they reach us from those who we share a  bond with. All this sounds a little different but can be thought over.

  • Balls to the Bully
    Kalamwali | 15-Feb-2018
I am not ordinary. I never was. And I never will be. Just like you. None of us are ordinary and that is an undeniable fact. If we were all meant to be normal or ordinary, we would have been produced and processed in factories and not been born is different homes, under different circumstances, with different traits and natures and most of all different physical attributes. I am about to pen down the most controversial piece of my life so far and well, it’s not going to be a piece of cake but it’s going to give me peace of mind. When we sat to discuss the theme of the month for February on Kalamwali, I knew we didn’t want to do the usual “month of love” jazz. After doing some research we hit a rather serious topic- Bullying. The moment it was decided that ‘Bullying’ will be the topic of the month, I knew I had to write. Honestly, bullying is very generically considered as something that happens in schools, colleges, hostels etc. I was fortunate, popular and strong e

Sometimes too much caring can be disastrous for a person. People only want to satisfy themselves they do not take care of interest of other person or how he is reacting and how much he is caring...... "The much you care double of it will hurt you". One day the person will react like an stranger who once use to be a good friend of yours.  They don't try to understand the feelings of other they only want that their need should be fulfilled when you are in friendship with that person. Once the motive or objective is achieved they will forget your kindness towards them, how much you care for them, the help which provided to them, everything they will forget including you. They will not see how much you cared,  your honesty towards them ,how much you well behaved with that person and how much respected that person........
