What MOTHERHOOD taught me the second time-

SURPRISES CAN BE SCARY but BEAUTIFUL- you can never be fully prepared, but you can treat the unpredictability as surprises and find joy in them.

SHARING- You don’t become less of a mother if you share the responsibility of your children with your partner or parents or caregiver. Because, everyone has limitations- even a MOTHER.

RESILIENCE- There’s never a dull moment, with a child at home. I have two. So unless I get over one disaster, I can never be ready for the next one which is already approaching me at a lightening speed

PATIENCE- A rather tough one. How much patience is enough patience? No one can quantify that! I have set my own limits which I happen to extent each time- because, well, there’s always more room for love and patience in a mother’s heart.

TO LET GO- This one has been the toughest one for me. To let go of my idea of perfect children, a perfect home, perfect upbringing. With extreme difficulty I’ve compromised on my standards of cleanliness, tidying, strict routines, balanced meals, milestones and deadlines with my children. Them looking HAPPY doing whatever it is, has become my new “perfect”

ACCEPT THAT THEY LOVE EACH OTHER MORE- When my younger one falls, he first runs to his sister rather than running to me. OUCH!! That does hurt. But nothing makes me happier knowing that they love each other more than they love me! I must’ve done something right to watch this!

I AM THEREFORE THEY ARE- At the risk of sounding pompous- Unless I am happy from within, I cannot make them happy. Every once in a while, I pay attention to myself. I give myself the TLC, so I can be the best version of myself for them!
