Breakfast is an important meal of the day. One is always in search of nutritious, palatable, and innovative recipes. Here is one such recipe, It's a personal favorite - Avocado Toast. Avocados contain a wide range of nutrients. The health benefits of avocados are well known. Avocado is used extensively in Mexican cuisine as dips, sauces, or whole-cut fruit. It has a lovely creamy texture and is a bit bland, so with some good flavor additives it can turn into a wonderful accompaniment with Toast, Herb rice & Broth, etc. This is an absolutely quick and easy recipe and can be savored for breakfast, brunch, or a late-night meal.
Ingredients :
> 1 nos - ripe avocado
> 1 nos - medium red onion fine chopped
> A few - cherry tomatoes ( can be substituted by red tomatoes, only use the thick flesh i.e deseeded tomato chopped in the filling)
> 2-3 cloves of garlic fine chopped (optional)
> couple of basil leaves roughly chopped (optional)
> Salt & pepper as per taste
> Juice of 1 medium size lemon
> A handful of white/black sesame seeds (not to be missed is the little "Desi Twist" !)
> any bread of your choice to make a toast
Procedure :
Cut the avocado into two halves. De-seed and removed the flesh i.e. the edible portion which is usually pale green or yellowish. Discard the cover of avocados. In a bowl, add the flesh and mash it with a fork gently until it's creamy. Now add the chopped onions, garlic, and basil leaves. Add the lime juice, salt & pepper as per taste and give it all a good mix. The filling is ready. Take a bread of your choice & prepare toast or slow roast it to make it a little crunchy, with/without butter is your choice. Once the toast is ready, spread the filling, top it up with chopped cherry tomatoes, and sprinkle the sesame seeds for added flavor and additional nutritional value.
Bon Appetit!
You can add some finely chopped veggies (colored bell peppers, corn etc) to make some variations of the same recipe.
