The moon has a profound influence on our emotions, mental health, and even our period cycles. For many women, moon days bring up chaotic and low-energy feelings. The full and new moons seem to amplify inner turbulence, but instead of ignoring or suppressing these feelings, we can use this time to heal, cleanse, and nurture our souls. I can totally relate to how these days can feel emotionally intense, but through practices of self-care, I’ve found a way to work with the energy of the moon rather than against it.

I’m sure many of you can resonate with this. The moon, with its cycles, connects deeply to our emotions, mental well-being, and even to our bodies. The pull of the moon aligns with our inner tides, and acknowledging that connection is a powerful step toward emotional balance.

Here’s what I do to nurture myself on these sacred days:

1. Om Namah Shivaya and OM Chanting

When the moon feels heavy, I turn to the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” and other OM chants to help center myself. This mantra invokes the energy of Shiva, the supreme consciousness, and Shakti, the divine feminine. Connecting with these energies during the full or new moon is incredibly grounding. Chanting "Om" helps to calm my mind, quiet my emotional waves, and create a sense of peace. The more I meditate on the sound of OM, the more I feel a deep sense of relaxation and alignment with the universe.

2. Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations)

Just as we do Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations) offers a beautiful way to balance our body and mind. These graceful yoga poses not only help with flexibility, but they also offer a cardio boost, connecting our breath and movement. Doing this practice on moon days is like sending positive energy into your body while simultaneously grounding yourself. It helps release stagnant emotions and invites peace into your heart.

3. Lighting a Candle/Incense Stick and Manifesting

Manifestation is real, especially when we take time during the moon’s energy to set our intentions. Lighting a candle or incense stick as a ritual signals that we’re creating a sacred space for manifestation. When you light the flame, it symbolizes clarity and new beginnings. Take a notebook, write down what you desire, and let the moon help bring it into existence. It’s a great reminder that our thoughts have power, and the universe responds to our intentions. You'll be amazed at how your manifestations come into fruition, often faster than expected.

4. Cry Your Heart Out – Let Go of All Emotions

Sometimes, the most healing thing you can do during a full or new moon is to allow yourself to cry. Tears are powerful releases. Whether it's frustration, sadness, or joy, releasing pent-up emotions can be incredibly therapeutic. The moon has a way of pulling out those hidden emotions and making us face them head-on. Allowing yourself to cry is a cleansing, a release of all the emotional baggage you don’t need anymore. Don’t suppress the tears—let them flow and feel the emotional detox happening.

5. Bhagavad Gita – Finding Guidance

I often turn to the Bhagavad Gita when I need guidance and clarity, especially during moon days. The teachings of Lord Krishna have a timeless quality that helps me reconnect with my higher self. There’s wisdom in every verse that speaks directly to the heart. Whenever I read the Gita, it feels like Krishna is personally guiding me through my challenges. The peace and clarity I find in its pages bring me comfort and strength, especially when the moon’s pull is strong.

6. Salt Water Bath

A saltwater bath is a simple yet effective way to cleanse your energy field. The salt helps absorb negativity and toxins from both your body and your aura. During the moon, when emotions can be heightened, soaking in a bath with salt can help you release emotional baggage and restore balance. It’s a wonderful practice to cleanse yourself after the energy-heavy full or new moon.

7. Charge Your Crystals

If you have crystals, the full and new moon are perfect times to cleanse and charge them. Crystals absorb energy from their environment, and charging them under the moonlight restores their potency. I place my crystals outside or by the window to let them soak in the lunar energy. This also recharges me, as I believe the crystal energy can amplify my intentions.

These simple yet powerful practices allow me to nurture and protect my energy during the full and new moon phases. It's about honoring the emotional pull, rather than resisting it. The moon is our ally, and by using these tools, we can create a healing space for our bodies and minds, helping us feel more aligned with the natural rhythms of the world. Whether you’re seeking emotional release, guidance, or balance, these moon rituals can help you tap into your true essence and feel more in control of your inner world.

What practices help you stay grounded during the full or new moon? Feel free to share your rituals—I’d love to hear how you connect with the lunar energy! 🌙✨
